REGISTRATION AND SELECTION OF PROJECT BENEFICIARIES

The foundation worked with the Universal Basic Education Board and the Ministry of Education of each of the states. We worked with the education boards who provided us with teachers from low income and government schools with over 10 students scoring below the pass mark of 40% in Math at both primary level and Junior.

We had about 1405 online and offline applications/registrations from math teachers in primary and secondary schools across the 46 Local Government Areas across the 3 states was recorded and 1000 were selected from 805 primary and secondary government and low-income schools across Ogun, Osun and Rivers State.

A critical factor for selection, amongst other factors, was the classification of applying schools as either government, low-cost or middle-cost schools. These categories are defined below:

  • Government Schools are schools that are free do not charge tuition.
  • Middle-Cost Schools: This is defined as schools with tuition of N75,001 – N150,000/annum.
  • Low-Cost Private Schools are schools that charge tuition of a maximum of N75,000/annum.
